About

Buxton Mountaineering Club is a friendly club in the heart of some of the best climbing in England. Climbing on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire edges is in easy reach, as are walks on the moors.

We have an active meets calendar. When the clocks go forward we climb at a different crag each week, usually with an associated walking group. Our calendar of winter activities keeps the spirits up when the clocks go back. All year round we hold weekend meets across the country, including the Yorkshire Dales, Wales, Scotland and Cornwall.

Although the club was set up by climbers, our members enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities. So whether you are new to the area, looking for people to get out with or keen to return to climbing or outdoor activities, join us.

Set up in 1978, Buxton Mountaineering Club has over 70 members of all ages and abilities.

In addition to climbing our members are genuine lovers of the outdoors who are active in any number of activities from hill walking, mountain biking and scrambling to canoeing, skiing and orienteering. As a club or individually members have enjoyed recent trips climbing in the alps and on the sunny cliffs of Spain as well as ski touring in Norway and walking in Austria.
