We are a small club with an active membership. We welcome:
- experienced climbers of all grades
- people who may have climbed before but perhaps not recently
- those who are recent to the sport or wanting to transition outdoors.
Our members are also active in many other outdoor activities. So if you want to meet people to climb, walk, ski or bike with then Buxton Mountaineering Club may be for you.
Come along to some of our meets to get to know us as a club and see that we’re a friendly bunch. If you choose to join us there is a small annual subscription charge to help fund the administration of the club. It also provides membership to the British Mountaineering Council.
We are unable to provide instruction, as such we expect climbers to be responsible for their own safety and to be able to ‘tie in’ as a minimum and ideally be able to belay. If you do not meet these standards please get in touch and we can can direct you towards trusted introduction to climbing courses.
Contact the club before coming to one of our meets in case there are last minute changes to our meets calendar.
BMC Participation Statement
The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
